Shotover River: Queenstown, Nea Zealand

Keep Paddling

Rock walls glide by
Waves lapping up their sides
White caps hide lurking rocks
Keep paddling!

Under a hot cloudless sky
A cold wind blows
Our muscles ach
Keep paddling!

The next bend approaches
Revealing boiling white water
There is no turning back
Keep paddling!

Foaming, swirling, angry liquid
We fall into a hole
Shocked by cold water
Keep paddling!

Try to catch our breath
A huge boulder appears
Are we going to hit it?
Keep paddling!

No time to think
This churning caldron does not stop
A rock ledge passes by
Keep paddling!

At last the river starts to relax
The water ebbs and slows
But life goes on
Keep paddling!
