The Idea

An idea materializes
It comes into the world bright
But fuzzy around the edges
Often to disappear
Before clearly being defined

Sometimes ideas solidify into concepts
Coming together with weight
And potential importance
Demanding your attention
With commitment to move forward

Next the concept becomes a proposal
To be defined and objectified
So others can understand
Only the best of the best
Deserve this time and effort

When the proposal gets respect from others
It evolves into a job
Demanding more of your time
Absorbing parts of your consciousness
Pushing other activities out of the way

As a job drags on
It becomes work
A central focus of your being
The thing you do with your time
Whiles dreaming of other affairs

Work can stretch into an obligation
Making you feel guilty
When not paying attention to it
Adding stress to everything you do
Inserting doubt into your decision making

The completion of an obligation
Creates momentary euphoria
The trill of accomplishment
That turns into the catalyst
For a new idea
